Iran lifts UN arms embargo

Under the nuclear deal, the UN's ban on arms sales to Iran under the 2015 JCPOA agreement will end today.


Ali Reza Miriosofi, Iran's envoy to the United Nations, says the United States has been left unilaterally isolated from the deal.


The JCPOA deal was reached by Iran, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, the European Union, Russia and China, and was ratified by a UN Security Council resolution.


The United Nations has rejected US sanctions and promised to abide by the deadline set by it. However, an executive order from the US president suggests that many countries may be reluctant to deal with Iran. To avoid possible secondary sanctions by the United States.
