The national squad for the Zimbabwe series will be announced tomorrow
The national squad for the series against Zimbabwe is likely to be announced tomorrow.
Former chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq had decided to announce the squad after the National T20 Cup but he has resigned from his post. It is likely that the PCB will announce the squad through a press release.
According to sources, the names of 22 to 23 players for the ODI and T20 series may be announced. Intra-squad ODI matches are also being planned before the series.
It has been agreed to rest former captain Shoaib Malik in the series. Apart from the inclusion of all-rounder Faheem Ashraf, the inclusion of Abdullah Shafiq and Khushdal Shah in the team also seems certain.
Sources said that Naseem Shah is being rested due to fitness issues, Musa Khan can be included in the squad in his place, besides Wahab Riaz can remain in the team based on his experience and form.
Rohail Nazir is being considered as the second wicket keeper in the team, while it is difficult to maintain the place of Sarfraz Ahmed.
Babar Azam will also lead ODI cricket for the first time in the series.
It should be noted that there will be three ODIs and three T20 matches between Pakistan and Zimbabwe, while the Zimbabwe team will arrive in Pakistan on October 20.
