Pakistan mourns Kashmiri leader's death
The Foreign Office on Thursday expressed "deep sorrow" over the death of Kashmiri resistance leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani after a long detention in the Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
"The nation pays tribute to his lifelong struggle for justice and freedom," the FO said in a statement.
It further said that Syed Ali Shah Geelani's enduring obligation to the Kashmir cause, regardless of steady mistreatment and enormous individual difficulties, was remarkable.
He said that he encouraged three generations of Kashmiris to resist illegal Indian occupation and unarmed oppression. Moment.

The Foreign Office said Gilani would be remembered for his unconditional love for Kashmir and Pakistan.
He added, "May their souls rest in peace, and may they become a movement for those who pursue their mission to end the illegal Indian occupation of Jammu and Kashmir."
The statement said that Pakistan would continue to provide all possible assistance to the Kashmiris in accordance with the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council until the right to self-determination is achieved.
Senior Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani was buried in a graveyard near his residence in Haiderpura, Srinagar, around 4.30 am amid tight security.
His relatives told Indian media that only Gilani's close relatives and neighbors were allowed to attend his funeral as security forces sealed off the cemetery.
Indian authorities closed security in disputed Kashmir on Wednesday following the death of a 92-year-old Kashmiri leader.
The family raised security fencing and blockades on the streets prompting Gilani's home in the focal city of Srinagar after the passing was declared.
