Case against Presidential Ordinances, Raza Rabbani's written reply submitted

Senator Raza Rabbani of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), a judicial assistant in the case against the issuance of presidential ordinances, has filed a 61-page written reply in the Islamabad High Court.


Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator Raza Rabbani, as a judicial assistant, has filed a written reply in the Islamabad High Court stating that according to the constitution, the president can issue ordinances on the recommendation of the cabinet in exceptional circumstances. A presidential ordinance issued without fulfilling the constitutional requirements can be revoked.


In his reply, he said that the ordinance issued without fulfilling the constitutional requirements could be revoked.


Mian Raza Rabbani has said that the ordinance issued without fulfilling the constitutional requirements is unconstitutional, it has no legal status.


In the reply submitted, the PPP senator said that the constitution gives limited powers to the President in case of non-convening of Parliament in serious and unavoidable circumstances.


In his reply, Raza Rabbani said that the ordinance issued on malicious and irrelevant grounds of the President could be questioned.


In his reply, he further said that the issuance of the ordinance without convening a scheduled meeting of the Senate made it clear that there was no immediate need for the ordinance.


In his reply submitted, Mian Raza Rabbani also said that the ordinance was issued to bypass the debate and discussion in the legislature.
