Media is going through the worst period of oppression, Bilawal

Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari while expressing concern over the disappearance of Geo News journalist Ali Imran Syed said that media was going through the worst period of oppression in Imran Khan's government.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari reacted to the disappearance of journalist Ali Imran Syed, calling it an attack on freedom of expression.

He said that incidents like disappearance of journalists create a negative image of Pakistan all over the world.

Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the process of suppressing voices should be stopped now.

On the other hand, a statement issued by Bilawal Bhutto's spokesman Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar said that the disappearance of Geo's reporter is very worrying.

Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar said that in the current government Pakistan is under criticism regarding the freedom of media, is the disappearance of the journalist related to the reporting of the Karachi incident?

Spokesman Bilawal Bhutto added that if Ali Imran was not recovered, the matter would be taken up in the Senate Human Rights Committee.

It is to be noted that Ali Imran Syed, a senior reporter of Geo News in Karachi, has not been traced even after 14 hours. The family members say that Ali Imran went to a nearby bakery from his house on Friday evening but did not return.

Mrs. Ali Imran Syed said that her husband had come out saying that he would return in half an hour, the mobile phone was in the house and the car was parked outside the house.

Police said that no such incident had taken place in the area before and efforts would be made to solve the case by gathering evidence.
